Romance, comedy, action and a social message, Aparajita, an Assamese film, promises to a complete entertainer. The film, due for release in January 30, 2013, is directed by Moon.
“The USP of Aparajita is the way comedy and romance are featured,” the director said. “Unlike other films, where the element of romance is showed in a melodramatic way, here it’s kept very crisp.”
The story revolves around four young men who arrive in Guwahati from different villages aspiring to make it big. However, as their dreams get shattered, the youths decide to take up a wrong path to earn easy money. Then they come across Aparajita, the protagonist, who brings them back to the right track. The film will cater to people of all ages, Moon said.
As an added incentive, the movie will also feature an item song, Bijulee Bijulee.
The movie features Rimpi Das, Arup Baishya, Ramen Tamuli, Raj Kumar and Shashanka Samir in the lead roles. The cast also includes Jayanta Das, Siddhartha Mukherjee, Amulya Kakati and Dipa Goswami. Besides them, Anupama Bhattacharjee and Nishita Goswami have a cameo in the film.
The film is shot mostly in Guwahati, along with Chaygaon, Hahim and Tawang. While MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed produces the film, the music is by Manas Robin.
Directed by Arup Manna Assamese film Aarohi is going to release on 16th January. Starring the talented duo of Raag Oinitom and Chandana Sarma in the lead and aptly supported by child actor Shabnam Borgoyari this film deals with a complex parents-children relationship.
Parents, very often sacrifices their dreams when they are young and later on try to fulfil the same through their child. In due process, the child has to go through a lot of emotional pressure, giving his/her more than 100 percent to fulfil the said dreams. The movie Aarohi is based on this theme and the director Arup Manna has aptly scripted the theme in to a full length feature film. It is known very well that Arup Manna believes in making an entertaining movie and is not bothered to tag it as commercial or art. ‘A movie must be such that it can be enjoyed by a family and in return they get some message; not heavy or not too shallow’ is what he has always advocated.
The star of the film surely is young and talented Shabnam, who says she has tried to act the way the director has asked her to.
The young actress has acted the way the director has asked her to do. She has enjoyed working in the movie, but she wants to study more and thus have tried to keep a balance between her studies and acting. Shabnam has found a little difficulty to perform the long dialogues, but she enjoyed the shorter ones.
With music by Manash hazarika, Aarohi made under the banner of Orchid Enterprises. This would be a breather in the list of some badly made Assamese movies.

Graduated from FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) Pune, Reema Borah is an aspiring new age director coming up with her first Assamese feature film Bokul. She has already made her mark in national and international domain through her short films and documentaries.
Reema Borah’s work like Xihotor Katha, which was part of various national and international festivals. Similarly, her short feature ‘Echoes of Silence’ bagged the 55th national award for music. Feature length film Chaatak bagged the special mention at IDPA, 2010.
Talking about her upcoming film, she said, “Bokul has been a very personal journey for me. It started with my own search to find a way to express my thoughts and emotions. My generation has seen so many changes of various kinds — social, political, economical and technological — and there is an intense need to express myself. I thought if I don’t express it now, it would be too late for the same. There is also this burning desire to make a film on my own terms, without giving into third party interference.”
For generating funds for her first feature film, Borah chose the pioneering step, crowd-funding. “I have mainly put up the appeal for contributions on my Facebook page and have created a separate Facebook page for Bokul. I hope to make my film with the help from my friends and well-wishers,” she said.

Kun? is an upcoming Assamese suspense thriller which is going to hit the theater next year. The behind story of the making of this thriller flick is more or less same as Jatraa-towards destiny. Everyone connecting with this film have almost zero experience in film-making yet Anuprash Das and his awesome team mates made this dream come true.  They all are students from from Cotton College, Handique College, St. marrys, Pragjyotish, B. Barooah College etc.
” The main thing about this film is that each and everyone in this film is amateur and having a zero experience in this field. We are trying to give a platform to the upcoming youth with great talents through this film. The film is based on a new concept and we are sure that it will bring a lot of change in Assamese film industry. The irony about the film is that its budget is tiny and whatever equipment we have used like slider, lights, shoulder grigs have been made by us using locally available materials.” They said.
Produced by Upamanyoo Das and Ronney this film is now under post production phase. you can grab all the upcoming updates from the official Facebook page of Kun?
